Jekyll Island resort is an extensive renovation of the existing Oceanside Inn and Suites Hotel located on Jekyll Island, Georgia.  Architect Jeff Lewis, AIA teamed with Design South to breathe new life into an existing hotel and provide a memorable experience for anyone traveling to Jekyll Island.  The goal was to transform the property into a casually elegant beachfront destination.

The renovation includes 156 completely refurbished first class contemporary rooms, an extensive fitness center, new and enhanced food and beverage outlets and entertainment areas, along with expanded indoor and outdoor guest amenities on beachfront property and provides new life into an existing hotel in need of transformation.

The integration of the resort building, the grounds, and the signature welcome reception center create a sense of arrival. Guest are welcomed into a 3-story lobby with expansive beach front vistas focused on the extensive landscaping and 1200 feet of unobstructed oceanfront.  The exterior updates redefine the building forms, rhythms, roofline creating a user friendly entrance and circulation pattern as well as drawing inspiration from the local Jekyll Island environment.  Since the hotel is on a main thoroughfare and near the community beach access, it was essential to provide a visual connection between the hotel and the community.  Redefined site paths and added amenities strengthen the community connection and attract visitors.

Not only will Jekyll Island resort be a major point of interest to the community it will be a premier lodging and hospitality experience on Jekyll Island, which is one of the most recognized meeting and family-friendly destinations in the South east.
