As their telephone services expanded into the neighboring town of McCormick, SC, West Carolina Rural Telephone Cooperative understood the importance of establishing a new Customer Service Center dedicated to their McCormick clients and centrally located for visibility and ease of access. WCRTC requested that Design South Professionals survey and renovate the former McCormick Post Office.
In renovating the approximately 3,500 square foot facility, it was important that the building design express the Owner’s cutting edge technology and establish WCRTC’s new presence within the Town of McCormick. In order to direct customers to WCRTC’s new products, services, and customer care center, the main entrance lobby and its adjacent customer service areas are positioned along a diagonal axis through the building. In addition, large diagonally stepped windows located along the façade and entry of the building provide exceptional day lighting to the interior as well as provide a welcoming openness to the public. Other areas within the facility include office areas, file rooms, an employee coffee bar and break area, storage areas, mechanical and electrical support services, and a telephone equipment room servicing the local communications provided by WCRTC.
New site improvements include approximately 10 new parking spaces and building landscaping.
