The new Abbeville County Library is composed of an approximately 8,000 square foot interior renovation of a vacant retail storefront. The program included a new entrance vestibule, library collections, offices, study rooms, conference space, and restrooms. The floor plan remains open while providing distinct areas for children, teens, reading, research, and media. The design also provided 5,000 square feet of shell space for future expansion.

The project involved selective demolition of existing interior CMU walls, floor finishes, ceilings, existing mechanical ductwork, and existing electrical. A complete plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection systems were installed, including power and indirect lighting plus fire alarm, public address communications, data, and communication raceways. The facade was transformed into an attractive library entrance with the addition of EFIS, split-face and polished CMU and a metal stud facade. The vestibule was accented by flush wood doors set in hollow metal frames and exterior aluminum storefront glass panel doors and frames. The interior finishes include: ceramic tile, carpet tile, vinyl composition tile, primarily painted walls, acoustical lay-in tile ceilings, and painted gypsum wallboard ceilings.
