As construction progressed on the new patient room addition to Hospice of the Upstate, Design South was asked to complete a master plan study for Hospice’s approximately 52-acre main campus. The design team worked closely with the Hospice team reviewing their wants and needs to further define their specialized vision for the future. Through an in-depth assessment of the existing campus, the design team identified three main areas of property development that include the currently developed site, the heavily wooded land, and the recently acquired additional acreage. Focusing on each area’s strengths, the design team carefully considered the preservation of the more mature forest areas, the cost effectiveness of buildable sites, and the most efficient use of the property as a whole.
The master plan provides a flexible, dynamic tool serving as a framework within which future projects may be constructed. This plan has also aided Hospice in discovering and initiating design of their immediate needs.
