Scope

ECU wanted to conduct a security assessment of their existing water infrastructure system. ECU engaged Design South to conduct the assessment of their water treatment plant, high service pump station, water storage facilities, and distribution system based on the new AWWA/ANSI “Guidelines for the Physical Security of Water Utilities”. A study of the current security infrastructure was conducted and compared to the new guidelines. Suggested improvements based on the study were then outlined in a report. ECU then engaged us to conduct a preliminary design in order to research the market available technologies, make suggestions on equipment to utilize, and prepare a preliminary opinion of probable costs.   With the information in hand ECU can plan and budget to implement need security measures and meet the new AWWA/ANSI guidelines to protect their most important resource – water.
